CAFE DE Eisuian
A moment to unwind in the city.
Perched beside the water in Sumida's Chitose area near Ryogoku, CAFE DE Eisuian serves baked cheesecake, Toarco Toraja coffee, spiced milk tea, and daily muffins and toasts against calm riverside views.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Watching the water drift past outside the window offers a restorative break. Set in a quiet corner of Chitose in Sumida Ward, CAFE DE Eisuian is the sort of cafe to seek out when step-away calm is what you need. Inside the compact space, counter seats and window-facing perches look out over gentle riverside light, creating a relaxed setting for a coffee pause.
For an accompaniment to tea or coffee, the classic baked cheesecake is the natural starting point. Moist and creamy on the palate, it finishes with a subtle citrusy brightness that keeps each bite light and balanced. To drink alongside, the cafe brews Toarco Toraja coffee, known for its pleasant acidity and depth, as well as a well-rounded house blend. Alternatively, a mug of hot spiced milk tea—blended with cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, and other spices—provides an aromatic warmth that harmonizes neatly with the cheese's rich flavour.
The display includes more than cheesecake: seasonal fruit tarts made with strawberries or figs, banana pound cake, and wild-yeast doughnuts make regular appearances. Muffins in flavours such as caramel pineapple and apple caramel offer sweet choices that rotate with the day. For something savoury, lightly toasted bread options like pizza toast or honey cheese toast can be rounded out with a side of soup and salad for a light meal.
The cafe is open from midday through early evening, with Sunday and Monday as regular rest days. Takeaway is also available, making it convenient to pick up a pastry and a warm drink while strolling along the river.
